Dimensional Fund Advisors
As early and strong proponents of the science of personal finance, we have worked closely with like-minded Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA) since they opened a Canadian office in 2004.
DFA is a fund manager that pioneered many of the “science of investing” strategies taken for granted in the financial industry today. The firm was founded in 1981 with the goal of applying academic research to the practical world of investing.
Closely collaborating with the academic community (including several Nobel-Prize-winning economists), Dimensional manages its funds according to time-tested as well as substantive, leading-edge research on financial markets. The results? Prudent financial innovation supported by evidence and empirical rigor.
Dimensional and Lowrie Financial
DFA’s Academic Feedback Loop embodies the communication and idea-exchange among them, the academic community, and advisors like Lowrie Financial.
DFA’s role is to build efficient, cost-effective investment vehicles. Our role is to ensure that investors make best use of those vehicles by maintaining a patient approach in their personal investing. To reduce the chance for “hot money” to adversely affect long-term investors’ share values, DFA does not offer its funds directly to individuals. Instead, they make their funds available through a select group of fee-based advisors. Steve Lowrie was one of the first financial advisors in Canada approved to use DFA funds.
